The new album deepens the project’s atmospheric, deliberate approach to doom metal.

Mortal Blood announces the release of Vigil For A Hollowed Earth, the project’s fourth full-length album (fifth overall release), arriving February 20, 2026.
Based in Montgomery County, Maryland, Mortal Blood continues to evolve its doom metal foundation into darker and more expansive territory. Vigil For A Hollowed Earth deepens the project’s blend of doom, gothic, black, and death metal, emphasizing atmosphere, melody, and emotional weight alongside crushing heaviness.
Clean and gothic vocal passages drift through sorrow-laden soundscapes, while death-doom and extreme vocals cut sharply through dense, oppressive arrangements. Across its ten tracks, the album moves between poetic mourning and suffocating intensity, creating a heavy, immersive listening experience that favors mood and gravity over excess. These themes are presented through compositions built on sustained tension, pacing, repetition, and layered textures.
Mortal Blood is the solo project of Dan Krell, who composed, performed, recorded, produced, and mastered the album independently.
